IDES R/3 SAP Model
Company
IDES in the R/3-based
System
represents a SAP model
company. It consists of an international group
with subsidiaries in several countries. IDES
contains application data for various business
scenarios that can be run in the SAP System.
IDES not only covers the Logistics area, but
also Financials, and Human Resources. It
demonstrates how the R/3 System supports practically all types of
industries, from discrete production through to
process industries, from engineering-to-order to
repetitive manufacturing. However, IDES is not a
sector-oriented model company. The individual
processes are based on practice-oriented data
for sectors such as Retailing or Banking. The
IDES group manufactures products as diverse as
elevators, motorcycles, and paints.
IDES ECC 5.0 is installed on mySAP
ERP at
IAG - Louvain School of Management. |

SAP R/3 and ECC
R/3 stands for real-time / three-tiered
architecture (Presentation/Application/Database
Layers). Back in the nineties, it was also at
that time the third release of the SAP ERP
system while the previous release R/2 has been
dedicated to mainframe architectures. Since 2004
mySAP ERP ECC replaces the traditional R/3
back-end core
system in the mySAP Business Suite. ECC stands for ERP central components.
It can support, throught the SAP Netweaver
technology, the Java stack notably for
e-business web services deployment. The classical ABAP stack
is still available but integrated to Netweaver.
SAP Web Application Server allows Enterprise
Portals and E-business Web Services Deployment
for ECC. Liike R/3, ECC
is arranged into distinct functional modules,
covering the typical functions in place in an
organization. The most widely used modules are
Financials and Controlling, Human Resources,
Materials Management, Sales & Distribution, and
Production Planning. |
